Each year, Medicare beneficiaries are given the opportunity to select a new plan for the upcoming year during the Open Enrollment Period. This year, Open Enrollment begins on October 15 and will run until December 7, 2026 – for most people, this will be the only opportunity to make changes to the plan that will cover them in 2027.

Medicare Part D provides prescription drug coverage for more than 56 million Americans, including seniors and those affected by chronic conditions like lupus. Choosing the correct plan for your specific, individual circumstances is a critical part of your health.

Below, we’ve answered 10 of the most common questions Part D beneficiaries with lupus may have during Open Enrollment. Whether you were satisfied with your plan in 2026 or not, you should take advantage of this time to make sure you are set up for success in 2027. Additionally, the Foundation has created a Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Guide that provides a complete overview of the Open Enrollment process.
